Many car experts have regarded the 2016 Subaru Outback the ultimate machine for all kinds of roads. It is the wagon version of Subaru’s best sedan yet (the Legacy) taking the sedan’s great features like the raised ground clearance, plastic body cladding and the highly regarded all-wheel drive system. Ultimately, it’s a functional vehicle for the adventurous driver.
The 2016 Subaru Outback is equipped with the standard 2.5-liter horizontally opposed 4-cylinder engine that has the power to produce 175 horsepower and 174 pound-feet of torque. You can pair this up with a six-speed manual transmission. In terms of this engine’s fuel economy, the car has an excellent 33 miles per gallon rating for highway driving.
The 6-cylinder Outback 3.6R, on the other hand, can pick up an exciting pace with 256 horsepower and 247 lb-ft of torque, but you will have to give up some of its fuel efficiency here. The EPA gives it a combined rating of 22 mpg, 20 on city roads and 27 on the highway.
With full redesign, the 2016 Subaru Outback is much better than the 2015 version. Subaru has made it a lot quieter and more refined. This is made possible with the Outback’s thicker floor panels, addition of inner fenders and acoustic windshield, more foam insulation and lower firewall area, among other improvements.
Seating space is no disappointment, either. The vehicle’s interior is now much wider than its predecessor, giving more space per seat. With the upgrade comes more cargo capability and rear-seat legroom.
